SALESVILLE, AR (KAIT) – A Salesville man is charged with terroristic threatening after officers say he threatened the life of a child.

At 8:30 a.m. on Aug 13, Sergeant Andy Bower responded to a terroristic threatening call on Broadview Drive. 74-year-old Emile Joseph Landry allegedly began yelling at an 11-year-old child who was walking down the street.

For unknown reasons, Landry allegedly threatened to kill the child by shooting him with a gun. According to Baxter County Police, Landry admitted doing so when asked about the threat.

After Landry was seated in the patrol unit, a witness told Bower that Landry took a .22 caliber handgun and handed it to the witness for safekeeping just before Bower arrived. The gun was taken as evidence.

Both the child and the witness said Mr. Landry did not show the gun during the incident.

Landry is currently in the Baxter County Detention Center. His bond is set at $10,000.
