LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Three Arkansas high school football players have been hospitalized week after experiencing problems during practices in the August heat. Two of the players - one from Lamar, another from Pulaski Academy - succumbed to the heat itself, during a week that saw several days of 100-degree temperatures.
The third, from Camden Fairview, complained of back pain and has been diagnosed with a staphylococcus infection. Little Rock television station KLRT reported that two of the players are in medically induced comas at Arkansas Children's Hospital, which doctors hope will help the patients recover.
