AR ACT scores fall as more seniors take test

LITTLE ROCK, AR (AP) - State education officials say the scores of Arkansas high school students on the ACT college entrance exam fell this year.

The information released Wednesday shows the composite score in Arkansas dropped from 20.6 in 2009 to 20.3 in 2010.

A total of 24,578 high school seniors - 81 percent of the state's graduates - took the test. That's an increase of more than 2,000 students who took the test last year.

The national ACT composite score fell from 21.1 to 21.0.

The test covers math, science, reading and English. A perfect score is 36.
