FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - The Arkansas basketball program says doctors have confirmed that power forward Marshawn Powell broke a bone in his left foot and will be out of action for 7-8 weeks.
But the Razorbacks said in a news release that the recovery period should allow Powell to be on the court for the start of fall practice on Oct. 15.
The release said Powell, a 6-7 forward from Newport News, Va., suffered the injury while playing a game of pickup basketball in his hometown this summer. According to the release, Arkansas team doctors determined that no surgery would be needed and the bone should heal properly on its own.
Last season, Powell led the Razorbacks with 6.7 rebounds per game and was third in per-game scoring with an average 14.9 points.
