ASU Soccer picked to finish 7th in Sun Belt Preseason Poll

Jonesboro (ASU) – The Arkansas State women's soccer team was voted to finish in seventh place by the Sun Belt Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll which was released Thursday. The poll is voted on by the 12 Sun Belt head coaches.

ASU received 54 points in the poll. Defending champion Denver was picked to finish first receiving 140 points and nine first place votes. Florida International, the 2009 regular-season champion was tabbed second garnering the other three first-place votes and 127 total points.

Western Kentucky was picked third, followed by North Texas, Middle Tennessee, UALR and Arkansas State in fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh.

Florida Atlantic and Troy were picked to finish tied for eighth. ULL, South Alabama and ULM were voted to finish 10th, 11th and 12th places, respectively.

Arkansas State opens the 2010 season against Tennessee-Martin, the 2009 regular-season Ohio Valley Conference champions, on Sunday at the ASU Soccer Complex. Game time against the Skyhawks is set for 2 p.m.
