Jonesboro (ASU) – The Arkansas State men's basketball team announced its 2010-11 schedule, Sunday, which features 15 home contests at the ASU Convocation Center and the Red Wolves previously disclosed participation in the NIT Season Tip-Off at Knoxville, Tenn.
The Red Wolves open with a pair of exhibition contests against Ouachita Baptist on Nov. 4 and Henderson State on Nov. 8.
Arkansas State then opens regular-season play on the road at Ole Miss on Nov. 12 before taking part in the NIT Season Tip-Off Nov. 15-16 and Nov. 22-26. The Red Wolves open play in the tournament against Missouri State on Nov. 15 at Knoxville, Tenn. The other three matchups will be determined by opening round results. Tennessee and Belmont are also in the south regional with ASU.
After completing action in the NIT ASU travels to SEMO on Nov. 27 and faces off against Memphis on Dec. 1 before returning to the Convocation Center for the first time since exhibition play.
ASU plays two games at home against Lyon College on Dec. 6 and Alabama State on Dec. 11 before heading back out on the road to play at Georgia Dec. 18.
The Red Wolves will face Savannah State at home on Dec. 20 and will meet up with Missouri State again the road Dec. 22.
ASU gets the first of two three-game home stands playing Central Baptist on Dec. 28 and opens conference play hosting South Alabama Dec. 30 and Western Kentucky Jan. 1.
A-State continues Sun Belt play on the road at FIU and FAU Jan. 6 & 8 and returns for its second three-game home stand facing Louisiana Lafayette on Jan. 13, Middle Tennessee on Jan. 15 and Lamar on Jan. 17.
Road games at Denver and North Texas are next on the slate for ASU on Jan. 20 & 22 and the Red Wolves return home for a matchup against Louisiana-Monroe Jan. 27.
The first of two meetings with instate rival UALR is up next for ASU. The two squads meet for the first time in Little Rock on Jan. 29, then; ASU makes the trip for another meeting with Savannah State Feb. 1 in Savannah, which completes nonconference action.
The Red Wolves then host Denver on Feb. 5 before their longest SBC road swing of the year at ULM Feb. 10, ULL Feb. 17 and Troy Feb. 19.
The Red Wolves then finish up at home Feb 24 against North Texas and host the season finale against UALR on Feb. 26.
The Sun Belt Conference tournament returns to Hot Springs, Ark. March 5-8 with all 12-teams competing in Hot Springs.
"It's a schedule that we are looking forward to playing with an early challenge at the NIT Season Tip-Off as well as challenging games at Ole Miss, Georgia and Memphis. These games will help prepare us for conference and we are excited about our team and how it will develop as conference season begins," said ASU head coach John Brady. "We have a favorable conference schedule with home games against South Alabama, Western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee. We also look forward to playing the other teams on our side at home as well."
