Jonesboro (ASU) – The Arkansas State football team wrapped up its fall camp last Saturday with its annual Fan Appreciation Day, but was back on the practice fields in shorts and helmets Monday afternoon after attending the first day of fall classes at ASU.
The Red Wolves took the field at 3:30 p.m. for their 19th practice this fall, continuing their preparations for their 2010 season that will open at Auburn on Sept. 4. A-State covered a variety of practice material before ending the workout with a team period that focused on different down-and-distance situations.
"I thought it was great at the beginning," said ASU head coach Steve Roberts. "I thought we were focused and lively, but we didn't finish well. So we've got to finish and have better focus. It was the first day of classes and they had a lot on their minds. A different routine and a different time schedule, but we've got to find a way to block all of that out and go to work when it is time to go to work."
The Red Wolves, which will begin implementing game-plan material this week for their season opener, will practice again Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
