New Orleans (SBC) – The Sun Belt Conference announced today that veteran broadcasters Joe Block, Cole Cubelic and Sandra Golden will respectively handle play-by-play, analyst and sideline duties for the Sun Belt Network's 12 game football slate this fall.
No stranger to the Sun Belt Conference, Joe Block has called football, basketball and baseball for the league over the past several seasons. In addition to his Sun Belt telecasts, Block has worked as the radio studio host for the New Orleans Hornets since 2007. He hosts "Hornets OT," a live, post-game call-in show aired on the multi-state Hornets Radio Network.
Block has also called minor league baseball play-by-play on radio for nine seasons, filled in on Montreal Expos broadcasts from 2003-04 and has offered his call on CST since 2008 and on CSS since 2002.
Cole Cubelic enters his first season on the Sun Belt airwaves, but is not new to broadcasting and the game of football. Cubelic, a former standout at Auburn, broke into sports broadcasting on various radio shows in Alabama – including the Auburn pre-game radio show which he hosted from 2002 through 2009.
At center for the Tigers he started 20 games and appeared in 38 despite four surgeries while at Auburn. Cole was named a permanent captain of the 2000 team under head coach Tommy Tuberville and voted to the SEC Good WorksTeam as well. He earned a BA in Communications in May of 2001.
Sandra Golden has 17 years experience in news and sports broadcasting beginning her career in Tallahassee, Florida after graduating from Florida State University. During her time on television she has been part of the sports and news teams for Fox Sports Net, WSB-TV, Comcast Sports and Sports Radio 790.
Golden has spent the last 13 years of her career in Atlanta, Georgia where she works nightly on CSS Sportsnite – an hour long live sports show that airs throughout the southeast. She has won four Associate Press awards for reporting and two southern regional Emmy awards for sports reporting.
