Region 8 man arrested for numerous burglaries

LAKE CITY, AR (KAIT) – After investigating several commercial burglaries over the course of two years, Jonesboro Police Department detectives say they have made an arrest.

On Tuesday Aug 24, Brian Bass, 41, of Lake City was arrested after a search warrant was issued following a controlled buy of a stolen gun through Detective Vic Brooks, Lieutenant Detective Rick Elliott, the JPD Prowl Unit, and members of the 2nd Judicial Drug Task Force.

A Jonesboro Police Department news release says Bass is charged with thirteen counts of commercial burglary, theft of property for the gun found, four counts of theft of property over $2,500.00, four counts of theft of property over $500.00, three counts of felony in possession of firearm, two counts of breaking or entering, residential burglary, and 1st degree criminal mischief over $500.00. All of these are felony offenses.

The press release also says during the burglaries, items such as laptop computers, cash, guns, tools, and other items were taken in addition to several thousands of dollars in damage caused to some of the businesses. 

Bass went before Craighead County District Judge Keith Blackman Friday at 10:00 a.m. for a Probable Cause and Bond Hearing.   He is currently being held in the Craighead County Jail.
