Jonesboro (KAIT) - The quarterback battle between Ryan Aplin and Phillip Butterfield was decided by head coach Steve Roberts Monday afternoon.
"Ryan's going to start the game. He's taken care of the football extremely well and proven that he can keep us on schedule, and he's been in Division 1 football games before. So, we're certainly excited about that. We do have confidence in both quarterbacks. There's no doubt in my mind that both of them have the ability to lead our football team to be successful. Never gone into a game promising one player that isn't the starter, that he's going to play, but that's certainly my expectation."
Ryan Aplin played the last three games of the 2009 season, winning games against North Texas and Western Kentucky. The Tampa, Florida native racked up 362 yards of total offense against the Mean Green, the most in school history. After the 2009 season, Aplin had surgery and missed spring practice.
