LITTLE ROCK, AR (AP) - Arkansas State Police have arrested an inmate on suspicion of capital murder in the deaths of three people found on central Arkansas interstates last year.
State police say an arrest warrant was served Monday on 26-year Terry Dean Birts, who is awaiting sentencing on federal weapons charges.
Birts is accused in the deaths of 48-year-old Tammy Lawrence and 24-year-old Ahki Hughes, who were found shot to death in an SUV off Interstate 40 in North Little Rock.
He's also charged in the death of Barry Glenn Murphy, whose body was found on a concrete ramp off Interstate 440.
Police say they believe Birts knew all the victims.
Birts has already served prison terms for drug convictions, fleeing and committing a terroristic act. He pleaded guilty in April to a federal weapons charge and will be sentenced Sept. 20.
