Tyson Gay clocks 9.92 to win 100m in Zagreb

ZAGREB, Croatia (AP) - American sprinter Tyson Gay has won the 100 meters at the Zagreb World Challenge, defeating Jamaican rival Nesta Carter in a time of 9.92 seconds.

Gay and Carter are tied for the season's-best time of 9.78. Gay reached it in London in August and Carter in Rieti, Italy, on Sunday. Carter finished second in 10.07 on Wednesday.

It was a victorious day for Americans : Dwight Phillips added another long jump victory; Nick Symmonds won the 800 in 1 minute, 45.37 seconds and Justin Gaymon captured the 400 hurdles in 49.19 seconds.

In women's competition, Lolo Jones won the 100 hurdles in 12.87. The 2008 Olympic gold medalist Marshevet Myers won the 200.
