Arkansas State seeks fresh start with new offense

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - After winning only four games in 2009, Arkansas State enters this season with a new offensive coordinator and a snazzy new system designed to increase tempo. The question is how long it will take quarterback Ryan Aplin and the offense to become comfortable. If it happens sooner rather than later, the Red Wolves could be 1 of the top teams in the Sun Belt Conference.

Arkansas State will be tested by a schedule that begins this weekend at No. 22 Auburn. The opener should be a good chance for Arkansas State to see how its new offense measures up against a team that runs a similar system at a very high level.

This will be the first game for new Red Wolves offensive coordinator Hugh Freeze.
