Berry Backs Child Tax Credit Increase

WASHINGTON -- Arkansas Congressman Marion Berry announced his decision Thursday to co-sponsor Democratic legislation that would reinstate the child tax credit increase for working families.

The tax credit was deleted from tax cut legislation that passed last month.

Berry says opposed last month's tax bill because he feels it will dramatically increase the national debt, and do little to stimulate the economy.

The First District Democrat says he supports the alternative proposal and urged Republican leaders to allow it to be brought to the floor for a vote.

According to Berry, the tax credit act would benefit as many as 206,000 Arkansas families.

Considering that the University of Central Arkansas mascot is a bear, it was only natural that one should be found less than a mile from campus.
