ASU Volleyball falls to Indiana in straight sets

Bloomington, IN (ASU) – The Arkansas State volleyball team (2-2) lost its first road match of the 2010 season 3-0 to Indiana in the opening round of play at the IU adidas Classic in Bloomington, Ind. Friday night.

The Red Wolves dropped three straight sets 25-14, 25-13, 25-17.

"Indiana is a very tall and physical team," said ASU head coach Justin Ingram.  "We need to be far more disciplined within our systems and individual technique in order to compete at a higher level.  Tomorrow will be another great test for this team."

Freshman Ashley Tipps led the offensive effort for A-State with nine kills and a .471 hitting percentage, recording just one error in the match.  Freshman libero Megan Baska led the team with nine digs, while junior Cayla Fielder and sophomore Kelsie Hodges each posted two blocks.

ASU will be back in action at the IU adidas Classic Saturday against North Carolina State at 10:00 a.m.  The Red Wolves will face Illinois State to close out the tournament at 5:30 p.m.
