JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -- "We look at it every October, and say what do we need to change for next year, what needs to be different," said Newport Economic Development Commission Executive Director, Jon Chadwell.
Planning for 2011 will soon be underway for the Newport Economic Development Commission, and they're asking for feedback.
"We like to think of it as a continuous improvement process," said Chadwell.
This is the first year the NEDC is sending out a 50 question comprehensive survey, going to more than one thousand people across Newport and Jackson County.
"Look at the strategies that we have, if there's something you really don't like, tell us why. If there's something you love, tell us why you love those," said Chadwell.
Chadwell says the NEDC has a variety of goals from recruiting new businesses, keeping the ones they have, even developing new parts of Newport. Goals that take strategies and planning, and he wants the entire community and county to be apart of it.
"We've got to make the community more attractive to business, while we're also attracting business to the community and so people in the community are helping us," said Chadwell.
Chadwell says a benefit to this online survey is convenience. People can fill it out whenever and wherever they choose with ease --offering feedback at their fingertips.
"Our community doesn't ever need to be stuck in one spot, it always needs to be improving and that's what we're working toward," said Chadwell.
He's hopeful this survey will help them achieve that.
"That's the whole goal, that our plan for 2011 will be better than the one for 2010 and therefore our community improves," said Chadwell.
Chadwell says the deadline to fill out the survey is noon Wednesday, but they may extend it if they see a need. He says there is a 15 question survey available too, but he says the more feedback they have, the better.
