Lyon Men's and Women's Soccer win on Tuesday

Batesville (KAIT) - The Lyon Scots men's and women's soccer programs both notched shutouts on Tuesday.

Men Shutout Bacone 2-0

Two goals by Daniel Young and a great day in the net by goalkeeper Matt Kelly and the defense led the Lyon College Scots to a 2-0 win over Bacone College on Tuesday.

Lyon (3-0-1) is currently riding a season-long, four-game unbeaten streak. The shutout was the Scots first of the year. Bacone (1-2) has now lost two straight.

Both of Young's goals came in the second half to erase a 0-0 tie off the scoreboard. Young's double goal game gave him three this season. Kelly's shutout was the first of the season and the first of his Lyon College career.

The Scots play again on Sept. 10th at John Brown. Kickoff is at 3 p.m. in Siloam Springs.

Women blank Missouri Valley 2-0

A downpour didn't stop the Lyon College Scots from splashing through a 2-0 shutout victory over the Missouri Valley Vikings on Tuesday at Huser Field.

Lyon (3-0) has won two of its three games via shutout and has only allowed one goal this season. Goalkeeper Erica Cox (3-0) notched her second shutout of the season and the 12th of her Lyon College career with eight saves in 90 minutes of work.

Katy Smith scored the first goal of the game in the 29th minute off a rebound of a saved Anja Klotzle boomer. The score stayed a 1-0 into halftime and Klotzle finshed off the scoring in the 64th minute with a penalty kick goal past the keeper. Klotzle's goal was her team-leading third of the season.

The Scots bounce back into action on Friday in the Baker Tournament against Mid-American Christian. Kickoff for that game is at 3 p.m.
