BAY, AR (KAIT) – Power is now restored to the residents of Bay a Lake City.

After lightening hit a substation near Bay during Thursday night's storms, the Bay and Riverside School Districts closed on Friday morning.

Many residents (anywhere from 250 to 1000) were without power from Bay to Lake City as crews are working diligently to restore power says Entergy Arkansas, Inc.

Bay Firefighter John Cook says lightening struck the substation around 7:15 p.m.—the same time tornado warnings were issued for the southern area of Craighead County. He also says power was restored by 7:43 a.m.

Cook says special equipment had to be brought in from Little Rock to fix the substation.
