COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - Game 2 on Missouri's schedule shapes up as an easy victory. Coach Gary Pinkel promises not to run up the score on McNeese State in the home opener on Saturday night.
Pinkel said he learned from coaching mentor Don James how not to rub it in.
Missouri scored 20 unanswered points and shut out Illinois in the second half of a 23-13 opening victory last Saturday in St. Louis. The Tigers (1-0) have an 18-game winning streak against non-conference opponents in the regular season dating to 2005 against New Mexico, plus Missouri is 9-0 against FCS schools.
McNeese State (1-0) is 1-2 against FBS schools, but it's far from a pushover. Coach Matt Viator is 34-10 in his fifth season and has led the school to the FCS playoffs three times.
