ASU Men's Golf T6 after first day of Sam Hall Intercollegiate

Hattiesburg, MS (ASU) - The Arkansas State men's golf team opened its 2010-11 season Monday at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate, finishing the tournament's first two rounds with two players among the top-10 individual leaders and tied for sixth place in the team standings with a combined score of 566 (285-281).
The Red Wolves will enter today's third and final round just seven strokes behind first-place Kennesaw State.  A-State is tied with Mississippi State and is two strokes behind tournament host and fifth-place Southern?Miss.  The tournament field is made up 15 teams, including six teams from the Sun Belt Conference.
ASU was led by Chris Pledger and Cory Williamson as both finished the day tied for eighth place with a combined 140.  Lloyd du Preeze and Wessel Zwiegers are tied for 38th place with a 145, while Warren Hood is tied for 65th after shooting a 149.
Pledger and Williamson both shot under par for each round, while du Preez carded a team-best 68 for the second round.  Four of A-State's five competing golfers posted a score under par in at least one of the first two rounds.
