School district locks down after shoe store robbery

CORNING, AR (KAIT) – The Corning School District goes on lock down for almost two hours after an armed robbery at a shoe store.

According to Criminal Investigation Department Officer Sergeant Jamie Martin,  Jordan's Shoe Store was robbed at gun point around 9:35 a.m.

The man behind the gun is described as a white male standing 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall with a neck tattoo. He was wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans. Martin says the man left on foot and later got into a red or maroon car.

Corning School District Superintendent J. M. Edington says shortly after the robbery, the school went on temporary lock down for approximately an hour and a half as a safety precaution.

Martin says the man left with an unknown amount of cash and a pair of shoes.
