Jonesboro (ASU) – Always on the cutting edge of game day technology, the Arkansas State athletics department will be unveiling a new feature for its fans and media for home games this weekend. ASU has partnered with Tap Stats to bring live real-time statistical information via personal iPhones, iPod touch or iPad through an application available through iTunes.
Arkansas State is one of only five schools in the nation rolling out the Tap Stats product which will provide both fans and media with real-time statistical information as it happens without having to wait for postgame for stats.
Fans that would like to download the Tap Stats utility should search for "tapstats asu" in the iTunes store and can then download either the iPad or iPhone application for their personal device.
"We are extremely excited to partner with Tap Stats in order to provide an enhanced game-day experience for A-State fans and to also better assist the media with their coverage of ASU's home athletic events," said ASU Sports Information Director Jerry Scott. "Tap Stats is a first-class product that we hope Arkansas State fans will enjoy, and we think it will also prove to be a valuable resource for the media."
North Texas and Arkansas State are the only Sun Belt Conference schools utilizing the cutting edge product at this time with Missouri, Kansas and Baylor also using the product for home contests. The application is available for download for $4.99 via iTunes and can be used for home football, men's basketball and women's basketball games with more sports expected to come online later.
The Tap Stats utility will also be used to provide statistical information in the Arkansas State press box, meaning that fans now have the same access to game day stats as the working media covering the game.
The Red Wolves kick off against ULM at 7:00 p.m. at ASU Stadium Saturday.
