Jonesboro (ASU) – Arkansas State golfer Jennifer Welch has been named the Arkansas Women's Golf Association Player of the Year for 2010 and will be honored for the achievement Saturday, Sept. 18 during a dinner reception at the Red Apple Inn in Heber Springs, Ark.
The Little Rock native helped the Red Wolves take home the Chip-N-Club Invitational championship last weekend in Lincoln, Neb. She posted a score of 79 in the first round and recorded ASU's lowest score in round two with a 72 Tuesday. She finished tied for 11th individually.
"Jennifer has had a great summer, and she is very deserving of this award," said ASU head coach M.J. Desbiens. "She has worked extremely hard, and we are very proud of the way she represents the Arkansas State golf program."
Welch and her fellow Red Wolves will return to action Sept. 27-28 when they compete at the Marilynn Smith Invitational in Lawrence, Kansas.
