BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Jackie Williams hauled in a 44-yard
touchdown on the final play, giving Alabama-Birmingham a 34-33
comeback victory over Troy on Saturday.
Williams made a leaping catch at the goal line from backup
quarterback Bryan Ellis. The Hail Mary touchdown capped a 99-yard
drive that began with 1:09 remaining and UAB out of timeouts.
The Blazers (1-2) trailed 23-0 with 6:35 left in the first half
and were still behind 33-20 with nine minutes to play. Ellis hit
Williams with a 36-yard touchdown pass to close the gap to 33-27
with 8:34 remaining.
Corey Robinson threw for 404 yards and two touchdowns and DuJuan
Harris rushed for two scores as the Trojans (1-2) scored on four of
their first five possessions.
