Missouri Gov. learns he was intended stabbing target

Kansas City, MO (KAIT)- Missouri Governor Jay Nixon says he feels safe, despite being the target in a recent stabbing. Casey Brezik, who stabbed a Dean at the Penn Valley Community College earlier this week told police he actually meant to attack Nixon. Nixon says the attacker's goal was to hurt a top government official.

"It strikes as an obvious cord as to how dangerous it can be when you are the governor of the state you kind of are the state. So people who have problems with the state, or have problems generally want to express those in a myriad of ways. This was a very violent way" says Nixon.  The dean who was stabbed is expected to recover. Police say Brezik was upset when he learned he attacked the wrong person.
