Semi-truck overturns in Jonesboro spilling its load, no injuries reported

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – Jonesboro Police, Fire, and Hazmat crews spent over an hour at the scene of an overturned semi-truck on Nestle Way.

According to Jonesboro Police, the call came in around 12:30 Monday afternoon that a semi-truck had over turned at the intersection of Nestle Way and Deer Lake.

When crews arrived the truck was on its side and began leaking diesel and hydraulic fuel. Hazmat crews were called to the scene, but according to reports, not a lot of fuel is leaking.

JPD told Region 8 News the truck driver was going too fast to negotiate a curve and overturned. The driver of the truck was not injured, and no other cars were involved in the accident.

The driver of the truck was Steven Wood who was an independent truck driver. Police say he was hauling scrap metal, which was also dumped when the truck overturned.

It took crews just over an hour to clean up the accident site.
