Jonesboro (ASU) – Arkansas State head coach Tommy Raffo and the rest of the Red Wolves baseball staff will welcome back their returning letterwinners as well as a slew of newcomers as the squad will begin their fall camp Tuesday at Tomlinson Stadium and Kell Field.
"We are anxious to start fall team practice and build on the success from last year's achievements," said head coach Tommy Raffo. "We have rookies blended in with experienced veterans and it should be a very competitive fall practice as we go over and implement our system."
Practice will run through most of October and will culminate with the Red Wolves series which will be contested on a yet to be determined date.
This will mark the first time that ASU will be able to work out as a team as they have just been allowed to work out individually on skill building and in small groups.
ASU finished the 2010 season with a 30-28 record and reached the Sun Belt Conference tournament for the first time since the 2006 season. Raffo led the Red Wolves to their first winning season since 2005, and ASU's 30 wins were the most since Arkansas State finished the 2005 season with 33 victories. A-State also finished the 2010 season at 16-14 in Sun Belt Conference action, and the Red Wolves' 16 conference victories are the most since the 1995 season and the second-most since ASU began regular-season conference play in 1969.
