Region 8 students celebrate peace and freedom

PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT)- On Tuesday elementary students from Greene County Tech celebrated International Peace Day by making pinwheels and placing them in the Paragould Courthouse lawn.

These "Pinwheels for Peace" were made in honor of Celebrate Freedom Week at GCT.  Thirty-five fifth graders placed the pinwheels on the courthouse's lawn near the memorial.  Educators say that participating in the event allows students to learn invaluable lessons about cooperation, tolerance and peace.

Around eight hundred kids participated in "Pinwheels for Peace".  This is Greene County Tech's third year for the project, it was originally started in Florida five years ago.
