Charity poker run set for Tuesday

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The Jonesboro Board of Realtors are working to raise money to fulfill children's wishes Tuesday.

They're holding a professional poker tournament September the 28th at the Elks Lodge in Jonesboro at six o'clock.

All proceeds from the event will go toward the Make A Wish Foundation.

They've even pulled out all the stops with a director from the Gold Strike in Tunica, who will be overseeing the event!

Shane McBride, with Crye-Lyke, says they decided to do this because they wanted to give back to the community they live and work in.

Shane McBride "As realtors in Jonesboro, we take so much from the community, we just wanted to give something back to the kids and do something also with the adults and let everybody have a little bit of fun."

Shane says they've been working on this fundraiser for a couple of months, now, and the response has been great!

"We've had a lot of people donate a lot of great things! They've just come forward and some places we've expected to get some small gifts, but they've come through and given large gifts. Ones that have become some of our main prizes we're going to be giving away."

Shane says they're excited about the positive response and thrilled at the opportunity to  help others.

They've even decided to make this fundraiser a yearly event!

"Anytime you can do anything involved with kids, especially in your hometown, we take a lot of pride and joy in being able to give back to them and do something for them."

You can sign up anytime before five o'clock Tuesday night.

You can also show up at the door, but only the first one hundred will be accepted.

Professional tables, chairs and cards will be set up and ready to go!

They will also be holding a raffle with a number of great prizes donated from establishments all over Region 8.
