ASU Women's Golf 10th after first day

Lawrence, KS (ASU) – The Arkansas State women's golf team opened play at the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational on Monday with a combined score of 643 to complete the tournament's first two rounds in 10th place among 12 teams.

The Red Wolves shot an opening-round 332, but came back to cut 21 strokes off that score during the second round to climb from 11th place to 10th in the standings.

Anna Carling is tied for 14th place, leading the Red Wolves with a combined score of 153.  Carling's second-round 74 was the lowest of the day among ASU's competing golfers.  Following Carling for the Red Wolves, Courtney Manning is tied for 40th place with a 161, Aly Seng tied for 45th with a 163, Jennifer Welch tied for 53rd with a 166 and Jennifer Loiacano is in 59th place with a 169.

Tournament-host Kansas leads the field with a 603, while Nebraska is in second place with a 604 and Kansas State rounds out the top three leaders with a 610.

The tournament's third and final round will be played today.
