Mizzou suspends DB Jasper Simmons

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - Missouri senior safety Jasper Simmons is the latest Tiger to be suspended from the team this season.

School officials announced Simmons' indefinite suspension on Monday. They did not disclose the reason but said the violation was not related to legal troubles.

Simmons missed the team's past three games while recovering from knee surgery after being injured against Illinois.

Simmons is the fifth Tiger player or coach to violate team rules or get into legal trouble since August. Captain Derrick Washington was kicked off the team and faces criminal charges of felony sex assault and domestic violence.

Two players each missed two games after arrests on drunk-driving charges. And assistant coach Bruce Walker received undisclosed team sanctions after his arrest on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
