ASU Women's Golf finishes 9th at Sunflower Invitational

Lawrence, KS (ASU) – The Arkansas State women's golf team climbed one place in the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational standings Tuesday, ending the two-day tournament with a final-round 320 and combined 963 to finish in ninth place among 12 teams.

The Red Wolves jumped one place in the standings following each round after posting a first-round 332 on Monday that initially put them in 11th place.  A-State turned around and cut 21 strokes off that total for its second 18 holes, which put it in 10th place heading into today's final round.

Anna Carling shot a 229 and finished tied for 12th place to lead the Red Wolves for the second consecutive tournament.  Carling, who has now collected a top-15 finish in each of A-State's first two tournaments, shot a second-round 74 that was the lowest round among all five competing ASU golfers.

Also competing for ASU, Aly Seng finished 39th with a 242, Courtney Manning tied for 47th place with a 246, Jennifer Loiacano 53rd with a 249 and Jennifer Welch tied for 56th place with a 251. Kansas won its own tournament with a 903, while UALR finished second with a 913 and Kansas State third with a 916.

The Red Wolves return to action Oct. 4-5 at the ORU Shootout in Tulsa, Okla.
