MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Rudy Gay has a gold medal from the world championships and a patch on the front of his jersey marking the Grizzlies' 10th season in their second hometown.
With his success and the franchise milestone, there is pressure to make the playoffs.
The owner and the fans are impatient, they want to see the Grizzlies back in the postseason.
Gay said Monday this could be a great season for the young Grizzlies. Gay says the Grizzlies want to build off last year when they won 16 more games than the year before, and he sees a team with the tools to be great.
Coach Lionel Hollins is focusing on improved defense when training camp opens Tuesday. He's also a bit more realistic and says the Grizzlies have a lot of work ahead.
