Kansas City (Lyon) - The Lyon College Scots were ranked No. 27 in the first-ever official NAIA Women's Soccer Modified Ratings Percentage Index (RPI), the National Office announced Wednesday.
Lyon is currently 5-3-0 and is in second place in the TranSouth Conference race.
Concordia (Ore.), Lee (Tenn.), Azusa Pacific (Calif.), William Carey (Miss.) and The Master's (Calif.) account for the top-five spots on the list. Martin Methodist, who the Scots lost a hard-fought 1-0 contest to on Saturday, is ranked No. 8 in the modified RPI.
The modified RPI consists of the team's modified winning percentage, the opponents' winning percentage and the cumulative ranking points from the current NAIA Women's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll. Each of the three values has a weighted percentage calculated in the modified RPI. The RPI modifies the value of home/away/neutral results and adds more value for games against opponents ranked in the NAIA Women's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll.
The modified RPI will select the at-large qualifying teams and seed the 32-team national championship field. There are two other official announcements scheduled for the 2010 season: Oct. 27 and Nov. 14.
