Jonesboro (ASU) – Saturday's Arkansas State football game against Louisville marks the University's Homecoming, and Red Wolves football fans are encouraged to be aware of special activities, parking procedures and changes in effect for the game.
An Arkansas State University Homecoming tradition continues with the seventh annual A-State Open Oct. 1 at Sage Meadows Golf Course in Jonesboro. Registration begins at 10:00 a.m., and the shotgun start will be at 11:00 a.m. The A-State Open marks the end of the ASU Red Wolf Club golf tour as championship teams from the Newport, Paragould, Blytheville and Osceola Scarlet Scrambles compete in the championship flight. The second flight consists of ASU Lettermen, and the third flight is open to anyone who would like to participate.
This year's winner will receive a prize package that includes two rounds of championship golf at historic Pinehurst Numbers 2 and 4. The prize also includes deluxe accommodations for three days and two nights, transportation to and from the Raleigh/Durham Airport and a gift pack with team uniforms.
The ASU Class of 1960 will be celebrating its 50th reunion, and several Distinguished Alumni will be recognized by the ASU Alumni Association during Saturday's game. The Distinguished Alumni award is based on service to one's community, outstanding professional achievement and service to Arkansas State University. This year's honorees include Major General George Barker, Dr. Joel Gambill and Julia Riggs Lansford. The 2010 ASU Homecoming Court will also be presented during halftime.
The following procedures will be used to expedite parking during the 2010 season:
Fans holding Purple (Red Wolf Run) parking passes, Yellow (Media) and Green parking passes are asked to enter the lots by turning south on to A Street off of Johnson Avenue.
Fans holding Red, Black, Blue or White parking permits are asked to enter those lots by turning west off of Stadium Boulevard on to Alumni Boulevard.
Fans holding Platinum, Orange and Gold parking permits are asked to enter those lots by turning east on A Street off of University Loop. Fans using these lots should note that access to these lots by turning on A Street off of Johnson Avenue will NOT be permitted.
Fans may also elect to pay $10 to park in two different areas near the stadium. The paid lots may be accessed by turning south on A Street off of Johnson Avenue or by turning west on to Alumni Boulevard off of Stadium Boulevard.
Fans using General Parking are asked to access those lots via Aggie Road and University Loop.
Additionally, there will be buses provided by JETS that can be used as transportation to and from the stadium by fans wishing to park at the City of Jonesboro parking lot or at Turtle Creek Mall. The downtown lot is located downtown at the intersection of Cate Avenue and Church Street across from the old Mercantile Bank/Union Planters Bank building, and the Turtle Creek Mall pickup point will be at the west food court. The JETS fare will be $1.00 each way for adults, 75 cents for students and 50 cents for riders over the age of 65.
Prior to the game, JETS will load buses at both parking lots at 4:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. The buses will unload at the northwest corner of ASU Stadium near gate 11.
