Jonesboro (ASU) – Freshman libero Megan Baska earned her second Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week award after helping the Red Wolves to a 1-1 conference record on the road last weekend, the league announced Monday.
Arkansas State topped Troy Friday night by a score of 3-1 and forced the South Alabama Jaguars into five sets Sunday afternoon. USA held on for the five-set win.
Baska totaled 55 digs on the weekend, posting 25 against Troy and 30 against South Alabama. She averaged 6.11 per set and added five assists, a service ace and her second kill of the season.
The Overland Park, Kan. native now has 333 digs to her credit this season for an overall average of 5.20 per set, which ranks third in the league. She also owns a team-high 14 service aces on the year.
Arkansas State will continue Sun Belt Conference play next weekend when the Red Wolves travel to Denton, Texas to face the Mean Green of North Texas Oct. 8. From there, ASU will continue to Denver, Colo., where the Red Wolves will wrap up a string of four consecutive road games with an Oct. 10 matchup against the Pioneers of Denver.
