Arkansas State visits North Texas on Saturday

JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas State and North Texas will each be looking for their second football win of the season - and second in conference play - when they meet in Denton, Texas, on Saturday.

The Red Wolves are 1-2 in the Sun Belt and 1-4 overall after their rally fell short in a 34-24 loss to Louisville. The Mean Green are 1-4 and 1-1 in conference play after losing 28-27 to Louisiana-Lafayette when a North Texas extra point was blocked with less than a minute to play.

UNT Quarterback Riley Dodge will put off surgery on his broken left wrist for two weeks and could be available to play as a backup in UNT's next two games, head coach Todd Dodge said Tuesday.

Riley Dodge met with a doctor on Tuesday and found out that he will need surgery to repair the broken bone he suffered in the first quarter of a loss to Louisiana-Lafayette last week. Dodge was in a cast that immobilized his thumb during practice Tuesday afternoon.

Chase Baine of Lake Dallas, who has not thrown a pass in a college game, will start in place of Dodge Saturday when the Mean Green faces Arkansas State.

Todd Dodge said UNT could use Riley Dodge in its next two games if doctors are able to take off the large cast and put on something smaller that would give him greater range of motion with his hand.
