Harding Men's Soccer falls 2-0 to Christian Brothers

SEARCY, Ark. (HU) – The Harding men's soccer team got a preview of an upcoming conference game Tuesday but had to play a man down for more than 80 minutes and fell 2-0 to Christian Brothers at the HU Soccer Field.

The teams will meet again on Oct. 24 in Memphis for a Gulf South Conference game that could determine the GSC Tournament fate of both teams.

Just under 10 minutes into Tuesday's game, Harding midfielder Rhon Royer received a red card for a late tackle on Christian Brothers' Michael Hollier.

With the one-man advantage, Christian Brothers capitalized on a corner kick in the 21st minute. Samuel Chen found Gideon Leteyian on the far post, and Leteyian headed the ball past Harding goalkeeper Will Reno for his second goal of the season.

The undermanned Bisons held off the Buc offense for more than 50 minutes until Christian Brothers struck again. Leteyian's cross to Ebai Ayuk left Ayuk just needing to make contact with the ball for his first goal.

Christian Brothers outshot Harding 12-6 and had seven corner kicks to the Bisons' five.

Harding will play another non-conference game Sunday when it hosts Lambuth in the final game of a three-game homestand.
