Arkansas State cautious despite N. Texas injuries

JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) - North Texas has had to ask a lot of players to step into important roles for injured teammates.

When the Mean Green (1-4, 1-1 Sun Belt) host Arkansas State (1-4, 1-2) on Saturday, they'll be starting their fourth quarterback of the season. North Texas has 10 starters out with injuries, and 12 players have long-term injuries.

Among the injured is wideout Tyler Stradford, who was hurt in an incident with a pit bull. Stradford jumped a fence when running from the beast, landed on some lawn furniture and had a piece break off in his chest.

Red Wolves coach Steve Roberts tells The Jonesboro Sun that ASU isn't walking into an easy victory. 2 of North Texas' four losses - to Louisiana-Lafayette and Rice - were by one point.
