ASU Volleyball beats North Texas Friday night in four sets

Denton, TX (ASU) - The Arkansas State volleyball Red Wolves (8-9, 2-3) topped the Mean Green of North Texas (11-9, 3-2) in four sets on the road in Sun Belt Conference action Friday night.

UNT started strong with a 25-18 first set victory, but the A-State squad rallied to take the following three sets for the match victory (25-19, 25-20, 25-21).  In set three, ASU went up 4-1 early but landed in a 21-21 deadlock before four consecutive Mean Green attacking errors sealed the win for the Red Wolves.

Three ASU players saw double-digit kills, including sophomores Jasmine Terry with 13 and Taylor Coughlin and Kelsie Hodges each with 10.  Freshman Megan Baska chalked up a team-high 25 digs, while sophomore Allison Kearney led the team with 41 assists and five blocks.

Arkansas State will wrap up a four-match road swing Sunday afternoon when the Red Wolves travel to Denver, Colo. for a 1:00 p.m. contest with the Denver Pioneers.  ASU then returns home Friday, Oct. 15 to meet in-state rival UALR on the hardwood at the Convocation Center.
