JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - What do you want for Jonesboro in the next twenty years?  Well, that's exactly what the city is asking.  City officials are working on a comprehensive plan and is asking for feed back from citizens to help Jonesboro move forward.

"Other cities in Arkansas have done this, but in our region we'll be the first.  So, that's great for the city of Jonesboro," says Shunqetta Cunningham, who is the project coordinator for Vision 2030.  "It's our first comprehensive plan the city of Jonesboro is placing together.  It will serve as a policy guide for the city," says Cunningham.
She says with Jonesboro growing at such a fast pace, the guide will help to accommodate the growth within the next 20 years.  City officials want the community to get involved.  "Researching other plans and seeing how public participation is really the leading element in a comprehensive plan it's just something we had to do," Cunningham explains.

Monday night interactive sessions are scheduled at seven different locations around Jonesboro to get input from the citizens.  "In any aspect of decision making, the citizens have a right to be involved. We want everyone to come in with a positive attitude on how you would like your city to grow," she says, and ensuring resources are available to the generations to come.

"I think it's important if they can actually come out and express their views face-to-face.  So, we're encouraging everyone, from the youth on up, to come to explain what you would like to see," says Cunningham.

The sessions will start at 6 p.m. at the following locations:

    *  Arkansas State University- 3rd floor of Student Union
    * Earl Bell Community Center
    * Parker Park Community Center
    * Huntington Building
    * Jonesboro High School
