SEARCY, Ark. (HU) – Harding University senior linebacker Jason Thomasson was named Gulf South Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
Thomasson, a native of Daingerfield, Texas, is Harding's second defensive honoree this season, earning his first career weekly honor in the Bisons' 22-17 loss to West Alabama.
Thomasson, who is Harding's active career tackles leader with 225, recorded 12 tackles against West Alabama, the most by a Bison defender this season. Ten of his tackles were solo. Thomasson also had an interception and a fumble recovery, becoming the second Harding player this season (Eddie Russ, Jr.) to have both takeaways in the same game this season.
With 8.4 tackles per game, Thomasson ranks fifth in the GSC.
