ASU Volleyball vs. UALR Friday; fans encouraged to wear pink

SERVING IT UP: The A-State volleyball squad returns to Jonesboro after a four-match road swing to take on in-state SBC rival UALR Friday night at the ASU Convocation Center at 7:00 p.m.  Arkansas State will not have a Sunday match this week.  Livestats will be available at

THE TEAMS: Arkansas State enters the UALR contest at 9-9 overall and 3-3 in Sun Bent Conference action.  The Red Wolves are coming off a 2-0 weekend on the road at North Texas and Denver.  ASU topped UNT 3-1 and swept Denver for its first-ever win on the road against the Pioneers.
UALR stands at 2-14 overall with an 0-6 mark in Sun Belt Conference play.  The Trojans travel to Jonesboro after suffering two road losses at Denver and North Texas last weekend.  The Trojans matchup with the Red Wolves is also their only action of the weekend.
THE UALR SERIES: Arkansas State holds a 41-15 advantage in the all-time series against the Trojans.  Last season, the Red Wolves took both matches winning in five sets at home and four sets in Little Rock.  During the 2008 season, the two teams split a pair of matches with each team winning on the road.  ASU topped UALR in five sets in Little Rock, but the Trojans posted a three-set win in Jonesboro.
THINK PINK: ASU Volleyball fans are encouraged to wear pink to Friday's match in support of October being National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Pink ribbons will be given out by the team, and the Red Wolves will warm up in pink jerseys.  Donations will also be collected for the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
