Tyler seminary student sentenced

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - A former East Texas seminary student has been sentenced to five years of probation with the stipulation that he will be deported to Columbia.

In late September, Jorge Sanchez, 31, pleaded guilty to the charge of indecency with a child.

Sanchez was taken into custody in April on charges that he engaged in sexual contact with a 15-year-old girl.

Sanchez, a Columbian foreign national, was a student at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception in Tyler.

In open court, Judge Kerry L. Russell said Sanchez will be held in the Smith County Jail until he is deported to his native country.
