Ark. governor intends to grant pardons to 6

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Gov. Mike Beebe has announced his intention to grant pardons to six people convicted of various crimes. Beebe spokesman Matt DeCample said in a news release that each of the six have completed jail time and parole-and-probationary requirements and paid all fines.

The six are Karolyn Benner Ramsey of Harrison for a drug conviction; Evelyn Dunn of Pine Bluff for shoplifting; William Manes of Greenwood for forgery and drug convictions; and Jerry White of Perryville for battery. Also Charles Coleman of Minneapolis for theft of property and Carla Young of Granite City, Ill., for forgery and conspiracy to commit robbery.

The public has 30 days to comment on the governor's intent. DeCample said Beebe also rejected 23 clemency requests.
