KENNETT, MO (KAIT) - Several events took place Saturday in Region 8, but one in particular had people quacking with excitement. The Third Annual Missouri Waterfowl Festival kicked off Saturday in Kennett providing a fun celebration of the migration.

"If you like the outdoors, you need to be here. We are doing it to promote the idea of water fowling in this area," says the Missouri Waterfowl Festival Chairman Charley Hilburn. He says with over 250 thousand acres of rice in the Kennett area it's a prime stop off for ducks.

And Saturday, it was all about ducks. Kids were feeding ducks. There were duck races, and even people quacking their way to victory in the duck calling competition. "Several past World Champions are here in attendance, either blowing in the duck call contest or judging it," says Hilburn.

There was also a fifty table gun show, rock climbing wall, as well as several booths. It was an event providing something for the whole family. The proceeds from the past events helped to provide a Youth Wing Shooting Clinic for kids.

The event will continue through Sunday October 17th. The order of events is listed below.
