SEC freshmen expected to perform like veterans

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A number of true freshmen in the Southeastern Conference are getting regular playing time - some out of neccessity and some because they're that good.

But no matter the reason, all are expected to perform like upper classman.

Florida has played 17 of the 28 prospects signed in February, which ties Air Force for the most in the nation. Tennessee has fielded 16 true freshmen, followed in the SEC by Auburn's 15 and Vanderbilt's 13.

Volunteers coach Derek Dooley says it's not a bad thing because he has always believed that the only way for a player to develope is to play.

Some have had their moments, all have experienced growing pains.
