Sun Belt to utilize new technology for Cross Country Championships

NEW ORLEANS, LA. (SBC) – The Sun Belt Conference will utilize new timing software for the first time for the 2010 Sun Belt Conference Cross Country Championships.

Along with the use of electronic chips, the conference will be able to track up to the minute results during the men's and women's races. Live scoring will not only take place at the finish line, but also at each split on the course along with cumulative split times for each runner at that split. With all of this information available on the scoreboards, spectators can virtually watch the race from the finish line.

The program will allow scorekeepers to instantly print splits once the race has been judged. This information is usually not available for 30 minutes to an hour at most meets.

The Sun Belt Conference Cross Country Championships are hosted by Western Kentucky University and take place on Oct. 30 in Bowling Green, Ky.
