JONESBORO, AR (KAIT)- The Visual and Performing Arts Magnet School in Jonesboro is participating in a program called "Box Tops for Education" which is helping them with needed funding.
According to Kara Mayfield, the President of the Parent/Teacher Organization, the school raised just under nine hundred dollars through the program along with other fundraisers. She says the acquired funds were used to buy new furniture for classrooms like tables and chairs.
Mayfield also says that this is not the first year they have participated in this program and that it helps generate funds that their school district does not have dedicated to making such purchases.
Schools taking part in the "Box Tops for Education" fundraiser can earn ten cents for cutting off box tops with the special logo and mailing them in to the appropriate company. Such box tops can be found on numerous items such as cereal, Bisquick or Pillsbury products.
