JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and it's not even Halloween! Many stores around Jonesboro are already putting out Christmas decorations, but is it ever too early to get into the holiday spirit?

It's that time of year, Halloween and Thanksgiving are just around the corner, the leaves are finally starting to change colors. But when you walk into many stores, folks are already getting ready to deck the halls for Christmas!

Jean Jones spent Tuesday afternoon in Hobby Lobby skimming through all the aisles for the perfect decorations. "I decorate every room in my house," says Jones. Jones says she normally has her Christmas decorations up by Thanksgiving. "As much as I put out..that way I can enjoy it a long time," she says.

According to the National Retail Federation nearly 40% of all holiday shoppers say they begin their holiday shopping before Halloween.

"We start early that way that way people can get out and shop. If not it get all picked over," says Penny Coin, who is an Assistant Manager at Hobby Lobby. She says they start putting out their Christmas supply by August. "If we don't have it out. They're asking when. We're a craft store, a lot of people want to start early that they can make their own items," says Coin.

"Christmas can't come too soon," says Linda Briggs, who is in town from Fort Worth, TX.

"I think they're putting it out, which I think is a good thing for people who like to shop early and get it out early. Buy it early because if you don't you're not going to get it.," says Briggs.

"Already on Saturdays the lines are packed buying Christmas. They're afraid they're not going to get what they want to have," says Coin.

The National Retail Federation is expecting holiday sales to increase 2.3% from 2009, which would mean nearly 450-billion dollars which should make for a very Merry Christmas.
